L'essentiel

By its nature, the flat pear sits on the bottom and gives its best on gentle slopes and gravel bars in rivers. In fact, it is one of the most effective shapes at short or medium distance because it holds very well on the bottom and offers a good resistance to the moving carps.

We also found that this type of sinker is the most rock-like in the substrate and during the filming of Chapters 1, 3 and 4 of the Underwater movies, it was the model that camouflaged best with its environment.

One of the popular adages that says flat sinkers are made for mud is actually quite false. Each sinker will find its way into the water layers according to its shape. So instead of fluttering in the water, a sinker like this will sink steeply, nose first. This will probably make it less effective than a Swivel Pear in the mud, but it will be devastating on gravel. This is Danny's number one choice for short range fishing on hard bottom.
