Ultegra Spod xtd Shimano Reel

The Ultegra XTD Spod is a new big reel for carp, designed to bait at long distance. Designed on the basis of the famous Ultegra XTD 14000, it has similar characteristics, but in "Spod" version.

Here are the differences with the classic version of the Ultegra:

• Shallow" spool: for long distance priming, the recommended capacity is lower
• Ratio of 5.2:1 (instead of 4.3:1) for a higher recovery speed
• Recovery per crank turn: 124cm instead of 103cm
• Thread clamps: 3 instead of 1
• Handle: oval knob (vs. T-Shape) for better grip
• Spare spool: none for a lower price A Spod reel must be associated with a Spod rod.

This technique consists of casting a "Spod" (or "Spomb") filled with bait far away to bait a spot. The line attachment is used to secure the line over a certain distance: this helps the angler to be very precise in his casting in order to reach the desired spot. Spod reels have a very fast ratio, so the Spod will be retrieved faster for a more effective baiting.
